Since its update in Season of the Haunted, Resilience has been without a doubt the most important stat in Destiny 2, regardless of what mode or activity you're playing in.

Recovery – It's still a strong stat, but no longer as important as Resilience, and can be rendered somewhat pointless with Void 3.0's Devour and Solar 3.0's Restoration. Discipline – An important stat given that grenade cooldown reduction is key for many types of builds.

Recovery tends to be the sought after stat for PvP. In PvE it's a substantial damage decrease at tier 6+ but that doesn't have any effect in PvP.

Values from 0 to 40 aren't worth it because you only gain 1% of resistance per 10 resilience. Values from 50 to 100 add about 6% damage resistance per tier. Conclusion: Aim for 50 or more or don't even bother.

Currently, Guardians that have 100 Resilience have 40% damage reduction, but in the Lightfall expansion, Bungie is nerfing this so that maxing out Resilience caps that damage reduction to 30%. This change might not seem like much, but it greatly impacts how players build their Guardians in Destiny 2.

In sum, there is no doubt that resilience is a useful and highly adaptive trait, especially in the face of traumatic events. However, when taken too far, it may focus individuals on impossible goals and make them unnecessarily tolerant of unpleasant or counterproductive circumstances.
